Kidney Cleansing
Why Clean the Kidneys?
Crystals form in the urine all the time. Did you know that?
I used to work as a medical technician in hospitals and clinics.
I have seen more containers of urine than most people would believe.
If you have ever submitted a urine sample to the doctor or nurse and
noticed it was cloudy, chances are you did not have an
infection. The cloudiness came from crystals.
What are Kidney Stones?
These crystals that readily form in urine build in size and become
kidney stones. These stones begin
their formation in the kidneys as crystals, and are usually
eliminated before they become very large. Of course if the crystals
form in the bladder, it is of no consequence. It is when they
form further up the line that they can cause problems.
Usually, if a person drinks plenty of water, they are continually
flushing any crystals from the body, never knowing they were
ever formed.
The problem arises when these crystals that are formed in the kidneys,
become large and get stuck in the ureters. The ureters are the
tubes that connect the kidneys to the bladder. If large
crystals (stones) get "stuck" and stop the flow of urine into the
bladder, spasms occur and urine backs up. The kidneys are not
accustomed to experiencing any pressure. When pressure builds up
from the backed-up urine, the kidneys usually swell. Kidney
damage can occur if the stone is lodged for too long. If the
kidney stone is lodged further down the ureter, the backed-up urine
may also cause the ureter to swell. Because the ureters are
muscular tubes, the presence of a stone will make them spasm,
causing severe pain.
How are Kidney Stones formed?
The most common kidney stones are composed of calcium oxalate.
Calcium oxalate crystals are the most common crystal found in a
urinalysis as well. About 80% of all kidney stones fall into this
category. The urine is always acidic when you see these crystals. The body is
usually acidic as well. I believe calcium is leaching out
of the bones to correct the acid pH of the body. As this
occurs, an excessive amount of calcium builds up, and so it is eliminated.
All degenerative diseases occur when the body is in an acidic state,
so there is often a correlation between disease and kidney stones.
The second most common kidney stones are callet struvite stones.
About 10% of all kidney stones fall in this category. This
type of stone is composed of magnesium ammonium phosphate.
Phosphate crystals are also common in more alkaline urine.
This is especially true if the urine has sat for a time, and bacteria
are multiplying in it, putting off their metabolic wastes, and making
it alkaline with their nitrogenous wastes. A fresh urine
sample can be analyzed and an hour later have these crystals.
They precipitate as the urine becomes alkaline upon sitting.
Magnesium and phosphorous are both components of our bones and
ammonia is a waste product filtered out by the kidneys.
Ammonia levels will increase upon sitting if there are bacteria in
the urine sample.
Lastly, about 5% of kidney stones are uric acid stones.
Uric acid is another waste product that is filtered out by the
kidneys. When the amount of uric acid in the body becomes too
high, it will precipitate out forming crystals. These crystals
cause gout, and if they collect and grow in the kidneys, they
will cause kidney stones . Again, the body is usually very acidic and the diet
is usually very high in cooked meats. The water intake is
usually too low as well.
2% of kidney stones come from cystine crystals. Cystine is
related to homocystine. It is a type of amino acid. High
levels of both of these biochemicals are an indication of poor
nutrition, but especially foods containing B vitamins. An inability
to utilize this amino acid is also linked to heart disease and
inflammation.
How do you know if you have
kidney stones?
People with kidney stones usually do not have any idea they are
forming crystals or stones until they have a stone get stuck in
their ureter. At this point they experience bouts of severe
pain. This pain usually begins in the flank region and the
area between the lower ribs and the hip bone. As the stone
moves closer to the bladder, a patient will often feel the pain
radiating along the inner thigh. In women, the pain is often
felt in the vulva. In man, the pain may be felt in the
testicles. Symptoms commonly include nausea, vomiting, extremely frequent and painful
urination, and obvious blood in the urine. Fever and
chills usually mean that the ureter has become obstructed, allowing
bacteria to become trapped in the kidney, causing a kidney infection.

So how can I keep kidney stones
and crystals from forming in my body?
Some people do not ever develop kidney stones and
may not ever develop crystals in their urine.
One sure way to not develop crystals or kidney stones is to
drink plenty of fluids. As a lab tech I noticed crystals never
developed in urines with low specific gravities. A urine with
low specific gravity is a urine that contains lots of water and less
impurities. A rule of thumb for everyone is to take your
weight in pounds and divide it in half. That number is the
number of ounces of water you should drink a day. For example,
if you weigh 150 pounds, divide it in half, which is 75. That
is how many ounces of water you should drink each day. If you
sweat a lot (because of exercise, hot weather, etc.), you should
increase the amount you drink. Drink pure water,
not soda, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. These drinks are
diuretics, and they are also acidifying to the body and contain high
oxalate levels. They cause crystal formation.
Medications can also cause crystals and stones to form.
A diet that is acidic also greatly precipitates the
formation of crystals and stones.

How to Cleanse Your Body From
All the Crystals Present in Your Body
To download a printable version of the the Kidney Cleanse Tea recipe in a "pdf" format (which will open with Adobe
Reader)

Here is the herbal recipe I use. It works
very well, but you need to keep making and drinking it - long term.
Drink this tea for at least 6 weeks. If you have been
experiencing lots of problems over the years, whether it be with
arthritis, gout, kidney stones or gallstones, drink this tea
all the time (until you have addressed all the root causes and
totally cleaned your system).
Kidney Cleanse Tea
Order: Kidney Cleanse Tea from Wilderness Family Naturals
Herbs
1/4 cup dried Hydrangea Root, cut
1/4 cut dried Queen of the Meadow Root (aka Gravel Root), cut
1/4 cup dried Marshmallow Root, cut
2 Tbsp dried Ginger Root, cut
1/4 cup Uva Ursi leaves, whole
Black Cherry
Juice concentrate
Vegetable Glycerine if you like your tea lightly sweetened
10 cups of pure, cold water
1 bunch of parsley (optional)
- Measure out your roots (Hydrangea, Queen of the Meadow,
Marshmallow and Ginger) and place in a non-metal container with the 10
cups of cold water to soak for 4-12 hours. Place a cover on the
container and just let the roots soften.
- After they have finished soaking, heat the root/water
mixture to
boiling. Turn the heat down to low, simmering the roots for 20
more minutes.
- After the 20
minutes are up, add the Uva Ursi leaves, stirring them in. Turn off the heat,
replace the lid and let the leaves "steep" for another 20 minutes.
- If you would like, you may also boil one bunch of parsley in 1
quart of water for approximately 3 minutes.
- When the simmering and steeping is done, strain both the parsley
and the root/uva ursi herbs. You how have your kidney tea.
- Combine together both the strained parsley water and the
root/uva ursi tea. Pour out some to drink
right away (careful, it should be hot!). Put the rest in the refrigerator for later.
- For every glass you drink add approximately 1 tablespoon of vegetable
glycerin and 1-2 tablespoons of black cherry juice concentrate.
I find the tea tasty. It has a "rooty" taste, but I like
it. It is definitely very cleansing to the kidneys and without
question dissolves crystals and stones throughout the body. You must
do for a minimum of 6 weeks or longer, depending on your health. I
believe everyone can benefit from this tea, and there is not limit
to the number of days you may drink it.
