White Pine Bark
The White Pine tree posses a powerful medicinal resin in its bark. It is warming, a circulatory stimulant and mainly used as an herbal treatment to overcome or prevent the onset of colds and flu by increasing circulation. White Pine bark is also used as an expectorant in cough syrups. It is also a wonderful remedy to use as a tea for such things as bronchitis, colds coughs, croup, and influenza. It is also good to use for sore throats, tonsillitis and laryngitis. It will stop coughing and help to expel phlegm from the throat and lungs. Even better than using White Pine bark alone is combining it with hers like Wild Cherry bark and/or Spikenard. Steep 1 tsp. of White Pine inner bark with 1 tablespoon of Wild cherry bark and one tablespoon Spikenard root in a pint of boiling water for 30 minutes. Sweeten with a little honey if necessary. Sip on this as needed.
White Pine Bark has also been used for rheumatism, kidney problems, and scurvy (caused by lack of vitamin C).
Combining White Pine bark with Uva Ursi , Marshmallow root, and Popular bark can be very helpful in treating diabetes.
A paste made from the bark can be placed as a poultice over a wound.
